The Foglia Tonda is a black grape variety native to Tuscany, known for the distinctive round shape of its leaves. Despite its historical presence, it was gradually abandoned due to its high productivity, which made it difficult to achieve quality grapes without careful vineyard management. Recently, however, this grape variety has been rediscovered and valued by a few Tuscan wineries that recognized its winemaking potential.
As Viticcio we stand out for producing a pure Foglia Tonda wine. Our Foglia Tonda Toscana Rosso IGT is made from hand-selected grapes, aged in small French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by further maturation in the bottle. This wine is a clear example of how the revival of ancient grape varieties can enrich Tuscany’s wine scene, offering unique and high-quality products.
