Ferraio is the new label from Viticcio dedicated to those who wish for an easy to drink red that showcases the Tuscan territory. A Sangiovese base with the scents of Merlot and Cabernet mixed in, it is a wine to be enjoyed throughout any meal.
Territoriality
Ferraio takes its name from the ancient craft of blacksmiths who were traditionally important figures in Tuscan farms. Our new label is a blend of 50% Sangiovese with touches of Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), both of which are international varieties that are on the horizon of Tuscan winemaking.
Separate and delicate vinification
The three grape varieties are vinified separately. The grapes are harvested at their individual peak in order to preserve freshness and balance. It also ensures that the wine does not become too alcoholic during the winemaking process.
The winemaking of the three varieties is conducted with finesse and a delicateness to extract only the noble tannins and to avoid the development of rough or vegetal notes. After fermentation, part of Ferraio is aged in bottle while the other is done in steel, both for around one year. Ferraio is not refined in barriques, preserving its fruity fresh and vibrant floral aromas.
A young and lively wine
Ferraio is a wine with a bright character. It should be drunk young to appreciate its very pleasant floral notes of violet and hyacinth as well as those of red fruit such as blackberries and currants. It has a good structure and body, but remains an easy to drink and refreshing wine. A wine that can be enjoyed day in and day out with any meal.
The new label
Ferraio’s label has an immediate and impacting design, just like the wine which it represents. A black background from which the outline of a silver crown emerges, invoking the imagery of the gold crown on our Monile label. An ode to simplicity and elegance.
